One Word: Refined-Fire
Today, I’m sharing my One Word: Refined-Fire, so you can glean ideas on allowing God to transform your life this year.

REFLECTING ON GOD’S PRESENCE
Happy New Year! As we bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new year with open arms. It’s essential to take a moment and reflect on the year that has passed. It’s easy to label the past twelve months as a “bad year,” but let us remember that through every high and low, God was with us.
During every challenge, blessing, or sorrow, our Heavenly Father walked alongside us, never leaving our side. As we face the unknowns for the coming year, we can find confidence in knowing that God will go with us!

EMBRACING the NEW YEAR WITH HOPE AND ANTICIPATION
We are launching into a new season, and it’s an opportunity to embrace hope and anticipate the good things God has planned for each of us. He is a loving Father, devoted to providing for our needs and nurturing our growth. We can trust that whatever the new year brings, it will ultimately move us closer to fulfilling His purpose.
CHOOSING ONE WORD
For over a decade, I have chosen One Word, One Verse, and One Song to guide and inspire me throughout the year. This year, I encourage you to do the same!
My word is Refined-Fire. As believers, we must undergo a refining process, much like gold refined in fire. This process can be difficult, yet it helps remove impurities and ultimately allows us to shine as a pure reflection of God’s love.
The verse that accompanies my word is 2 Corinthians 7:1. Through the promises of God, we are inspired to continually cleanse ourselves – body and spirit – and embrace holiness out of respect for our Creator.
“Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1
Here is my song: Refiner’s Fire (click to listen)
[Verse 1]
Purify my heart
Let me be as gold and precious silver
Purify my heart
Let me be as gold, pure gold
[Chorus]
Refiner’s fire
My heart’s one desire
Is to be holy
Set apart for You, Lord
I choose to be holy
Set apart for You, my Master
Ready to do Your will
[Verse 2]
Purify my heart
Cleanse me from within and make me holy
Purify my heart
Cleanse me from my sin, deep within
[Chorus]
Refiner’s fire
My heart’s one desire
Is to be holy
Set apart for You, Lord
I choose to be holy
Set apart for You, my Master
Ready to do Your will
Refiner’s fire
My heart’s one desire
Is to be holy
Set apart for You, Lord
I choose to be holy
Set apart for You, my Master
Ready to do Your will
Refine Me, O LORD!
My ‘one word’ for this year is Refined-Fire. This verse helps me to see what the Lord wants for me this year.
The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts. Proverbs 17:3
I like how the NKJV uses the word ‘refining’.
The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold,
But the Lord tests the hearts. Proverbs 17:3
Gold is refined or purified using a scorching fire.
It is the process of removing impurities from raw gold to produce a purer form of the metal. This increases its quality and value.
Gold is one of the most sought-after precious metals due to its scarcity, durability, and versatility.
You are more precious than gold (Psalm 19:10), and God wants to refine you and make you strong, durable, and versatile for His purposes.
