Renewal: A Journey to Deepen Your Faith

Faith in Jesus plays a central role in spiritual renewal. I don’t want my faith to stagnate, and this year, I am pushing forward to draw closer to Jesus in a deeper walk with Him. Renewal is not just a concept—it’s a commitment to embrace growth, rediscover purpose, and allow Christ to transform my heart day by day.

My Personal Journey to Renewal

One way I’m embracing this journey is through Jesus Journaling, a practice of reflecting on scripture and expressing faith through art. As I create journaling art for the Jesus Journaling community on Facebook, I’ll illustrate my steps toward deeper faith and spiritual renewal. These visual reflections are a way to bring life to scripture and document how God is moving in my life.

Through this process, I hope to inspire others to explore their own faith journeys. Journaling, prayer, and creativity are powerful tools to connect with God, and I invite you to join me in finding ways to renew your spirit.

What Would Renewal Look Like for You?

As you consider your own walk with Christ, ask yourself:

  • What areas of your life feel stagnant or in need of growth?
  • How can you draw closer to Jesus in your daily life?
  • What practices—such as prayer, worship, or journaling—might help you experience a renewed faith?

Every journey to renewal is unique, but the goal remains the same: to grow closer to Jesus and live fully in His grace and love.

Renewal By Walking WITH Christ

The first illustrated journal is asking us to walk with Christ. Our walk is how we steadily journey through life with Jesus.

One way to find renewal in your life is to be consistent in God’s Word. Scripture Writing and journaling art is an excellent way to impress a verse into your mind and heart.

Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, Ephesians 4:17

Christianity is a life to be lived!

We must no longer walk as the Gentiles do (or as we did before we were saved) but walk with Christ.

Are you a Messianic Jew? Most of us are Gentiles and have been included in being God’s chosen people. His royal priesthood.

We are Gentiles but no longer Gentiles.

Throughout Ephesians, there are so many verses that refer to our walk with Christ. I won’t list them all here but feel free to take this deeper as I did.

Ephesians 5:2 says, Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Consistency in the Word: Lacking in Prayer

As I reflect on my journey of renewal, I’ve noticed an area that needs growth: prayer.

I’ve been consistent in reading the Bible, writing out verses, studying God’s Word, and even using art to illustrate what His Spirit has impressed on my heart.

But when it comes to prayer, I find myself falling short.

Prayer is such a vital part of our relationship with Jesus—it’s how we communicate with Him, pour out our hearts, and seek His guidance. Yet, in the busyness of life, it’s easy to let prayer become an afterthought.

This realization is part of my renewal journey this year. I want to focus not only on immersing myself in scripture and creative expression but also on cultivating a deeper, more consistent prayer life.

Prayer is where our faith deepens and where we experience God’s presence most intimately.

Cultivate Gratitude and Worship

Gratitude and worship are powerful tools for spiritual renewal. They shift our focus from our struggles and limitations to the goodness and greatness of God. By practicing gratitude and embracing worship, we renew our hearts, draw closer to God, and experience His presence in transformative ways.

The Power of Gratitude

Gratitude changes the way we see the world and deepens our connection to God. When we intentionally give thanks, we acknowledge His faithfulness and provision in our lives. This act not only renews our perspective but also fosters a sense of peace and joy.

Here are a few ideas for cultivating daily gratitude:

  • Gratitude Journaling: Set aside time each day to write down three things you’re thankful for. These could be small blessings or significant moments where you’ve seen God’s hand at work.
  • Scripture-Based Gratitude: Reflect on Bible verses about thankfulness, like 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (“Give thanks in all circumstances”). Write these verses out and meditate on them.
  • Gratitude Prayer: Begin or end your day with a prayer of thanksgiving, listing specific ways God has blessed you.

Renewal Journey Through the Desert

Remember not the former things,
nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:118-19

Have you ever faced a season in life that felt like a wilderness?

Dry, empty, and seemingly impossible to navigate? Isaiah 43:18-19 offers us such hope in those moments.

What an incredible promise!

God reminds us not to dwell on what’s behind us but to look forward to the new thing He is doing.

He specializes in bringing life to barren places, making a way where there seems to be no way.

  • Sometimes, it’s hard to imagine a path through the wilderness or streams flowing in the deserts of our lives.

Maybe you’re carrying the weight of:
  • A broken relationship!
  • A health struggle!
  • Or an overwhelming uncertainty!

But here’s the good news: God doesn’t leave us in the wilderness. He creates a way through it.

A Call to Renewal

This year, I’m committing to renewal, to a faith that is vibrant and growing.

Will you join me?

Together, we can rediscover what it means to walk in a deeper relationship with Christ.
