When You’re Running on Empty
When your energy feels drained and your soul weary, remember Isaiah 40:28—“The everlasting God neither faints nor is weary.” You are not called to muster strength from within but to draw it from Him. He delights in your weakness because it becomes the perfect place for His strength to shine.

Instead of pushing harder, pause and lean in. Whisper a simple prayer: “Lord, I’m tired, but You are strong.” Then watch as He renews your spirit with calm, unshakable peace. His endless strength is your anchor—trust Him to carry you today.
Isaiah 40:28 (NKJV)
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.”
When Strength Runs Out
Have you ever felt so worn out that you could barely think straight—physically, emotionally, and spiritually empty? Life has a way of stretching us thin with all its demands—home, work, family, and the hidden weight of quiet worries. We live in a culture that glorifies productivity and independence, whispering lies like “You can do anything,” and “You are enough.”
But the truth is, you were never meant to do life in your own strength.
When Isaiah wrote these words, Israel had been weary from waiting—tired of struggling through disappointment and defeat. And yet, Isaiah reminded them of something essential: God never grows tired. He never faints. His strength has no limits, and His understanding is beyond what we can grasp.
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
Our False Sense of Strength
We often take pride in what our hands can accomplish—the neat home, the organized pantry, the successful project, or even the way we “hold it all together.” But deep down, God wants us to realize that our greatest strength is found in our dependence on Him.
Psalm 147 tells us, “He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man. The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy.” (vv. 10-11)
That means God’s delight is not in your perfection, your work ethic, or your ability to push through exhaustion. His heart is moved when you come to Him weary, empty-handed, and fully reliant on His steadfast love.

The Beauty of Weakness
It can feel uncomfortable to admit that you’re weak. As women, mothers, grandmothers, and nurturers, we’ve learned to be the glue that holds everything together. But God often allows seasons of exhaustion—not to punish you—but to draw you closer, to teach you that your limitations are the doorway to His limitless grace.
When you stop striving and start surrendering, you discover that His strength becomes your steady companion. Paul echoes this in 2 Corinthians 12:9, where the Lord says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
That word perfect means complete. His strength isn’t added on top of your effort—it replaces it when you rest in Him.

Choosing God First
When you’re drained, do you first reach for another cup of coffee, a distraction, or a self-help plan? Or do you fall to your knees and whisper, “Lord, I can’t, but You can”?
That small act of surrender opens the floodgates of divine strength.
Self-reliance is sneaky. It hides behind our routines, our “to-do” lists, and even our ministry work. Yet, when we make God our first resort—not our last—He renews our inner life with peace and power that no amount of striving can reproduce.
So, the next time you feel utterly spent, pause and remember: God never tires. His strength never fades. Let Him be your refuge when your energy runs dry.
