5 Strategies to Find True Freedom in Jesus

Freedom doesn't mean you can do anything you'd like! You will experience true freedom when you live out these 5 strategies.

It was a feeling of freedom when I drove to the store without any kids in tow. I can assure you that it was a rare occasion!

That’s just a free feeling. I might be worshiping God but that is not being free in Christ Jesus.

What does the word FREEDOM mean?

The web dictionary sums it up by saying that FREE means: enjoying personal rights or liberty, as a person who is not in slavery.

That is the problem with thinking we have freedom.

You might think you can do just about anything you want.

One of the things that the Bible warns about is putting something evil before our eyes.

“I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.” (Psalm 101:3)

Our eyes are the spiritual gate to our hearts.

Freedom means changing how we live and bringing ourselves in alignment with God.

As a Believer with the Holy Spirit dwelling within you, it is a good thing to ask God if we are truly becoming a new creature.

When you got saved, did you do an “about” turn? Did you become a “totally” new person?

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17)

You have no personal rights or liberty!

How does that work?! Not having personal rights sounds so restricting and not like something you’d want. Right?

One of my biggest struggles with my husband was wanting my way over situations with the kids. Raising kids is the hardest season of marriage. Trust me.

We’ve weathered those storms but to be honest, at times it was harder than hard.

I had to learn to begin surrendering my rights. I wasn’t perfect but continually made steps in the right direction.

In our marriage, being free is learning to surrender our personal-rights is where the journey to freedom begins.

What is Holding You Back From Living in Freedom?

Being free in Christ Jesus is having the Holy Spirit living in you so fully that you can say, Christ lives in me.

I have been crucified with Christ
It is no longer I who lives
But Christ lives in me
I have a second chance in life
My future’s open wide
I know Christ lives in me
He lives in me
Hallelujah, hallelujah…

It is finding your righteousness in Jesus because He died on the cross for you.

It is the cross-life in our housework, raising our kids, homeschooling (if that’s part of your journey), and most of all in your marriage.

What is holding you back?

Do you want to be more like Jesus but constantly failing or taking steps backward?

Do you feel held back because you are basing your faith on your outward appearance?

  • Is it what you DO at church or in the community?
  • The clothes you wear?
  • Or in how ‘nice’ and ‘sweet’ you act? (when you are disguising ugly thoughts and motives)

5 Freedom Strategies

  1. To lose self(ishness)!
  2. To have Christ living in you!
  3. To take up the cross in your marriage and parenting!
  4. To reach out to others because of what Christ has done for you!
  5. Is to be lost in Him!

In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:14

We have our freedom through Jesus’ blood that was shed on the cross to set us free from sin.

You don’t have freedom in Christ Jesus to act out of control towards your husband and kids. When you do, simply go back to them and ask for forgiveness.

Being free also doesn’t throw out holy living.  Jesus came to earth and died for our sins so the Old Testament laws were no longer needed. Jesus became the law for us.

We are a new person because He lives inside us moment by moment transforming us into His perfect holy image.

We are free because Jesus Christ lives in us!

What is holding you back from being free in Christ Jesus? What could you add to what I have shared?
