How to Run Hard for Your Reward + Video
When you run hard for your reward, you PRESS on TOWARD your GOAL!
Today we will talk about a wonderful verse from Philippians. The apostle Paul is in jail and yet he is encouraging the Philippians to pursue the race of life to gain their reward.
Press on for Your Reward
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus Philippians 3:14
We get so caught up in living here on earth that most of the time we forget that there is a life that follows after our death.
Everyone will live forever in one of two places. You will either live in heaven or hell.
Where you live will be determined by what you do with Jesus!
If you . . . know Him and the power of His resurrection, you will attain the resurrection from the dead. (Philippians 3:10-11)
That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Philippians 3:12-13
We are to run hard for our reward as we pursue heaven while here on earth. Looking to Jesus! Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.
Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, Philippians 3:12-13
Straining Upward as You Run
We are straining and pressing toward the UPWARD call as we lean forward as we run.
When I was raising my children, they played soccer with the young people at church. My youngest son would play hard. With determined ambition, he would throw himself down on the ground to block the ball from going into the goal.
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14
He played soccer like we ought to live our life. Totally sold out for Jesus.
The endpoint of our game should be played hard with the reward in mind. We should have our sights on the reward that we will attain for scoring our goal.
Is Your Call Sure?
If you know Jesus . . .
Absolutely!
Jesus Christ has called you and made you His own. He will never leave you or forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5)
We run. We pursue after our reward, straining forward to win the prize as victors!
You are going to win this race, not because you are a great runner but because Jesus Christ has made you His own. He is running the race through you!
