Thoughts of Encouragement: How God is Your Dwelling Place
God wants to be your dwelling place, providing you with shelter and protection from what is happening in your life. Your world.
Do You Read Psalms Often? I love coloring about it in my favorite journaling Bible or coloring book.
I do and find them so encouraging!
I often find God reassuring me to trust Him through the situations in my life. He has proved Himself my trustworthy dwelling place over and over again.
Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Psalm 90:1
Do you live where you can see the mountains?
I have always lived where I can see mountains from my window. I have even lived on the side of a mountain or hill several times in my life.
When I was a young child, I looked out of my window and could see Lion Rock Mountain in Kowloon, Hong Kong. At the peak of the mountain are two huge craggy rocks that reminded me of strength. I actually saw my parents ‘in’ those rocks.
God Reveals His Strength in Mountains
He is my Rock, Strength, and Dwelling Place.
I can place all my trust in Him!
When I was a teenager, I looked out of my bedroom window and saw Diamond Head (Honolulu, Hawaii) less than a half mile away. I lived in the shadow of that mountain.
God covers us under the Shadow of His Wings. As the sun hits the mountain on one side, it throws a shadow on the other side. We are kept under the shadow of His wings in total safety.
In college, I looked down four floors from my dorm window to the street that sloped downhill in San Francisco, California.
I couldn’t see the mountain because I was dwelling ‘on’ it. How often do we not see God in our circumstances although He is right there?!
Now, I can’t see the hills around me for the trees. I am on the top of a mountain! I am surrounded by the beauty of my dwelling place.
This reminds me of how God surrounds me with His presence.
All I have to do is become aware of it and seek Him because He is already there!
What does all this have to do with Psalm 90 verse 1?
God is My Dwelling Place
My dwelling place has been on or next to mountains my whole life. God was present BEFORE these mountains were brought forth or BEFORE He had formed the earth and the world (vs 2.)
From everlasting to everlasting, You are God. (vs 2)
Where do YOU live?
Do you live on a mountain, next to the ocean, lake or river? Where it is flat?
Wherever you live, God has been there since before time began. He is your dwelling place.
He provides us with shelter from the storms and a safe place to be.
That is what I am reminded of when I read that God is my dwelling place.
Did reading about how God is your dwelling place encourage you to seek Him more diligently? How does the place you live remind you that God is dwelling there?
