You might be calm on the outside but do you have thoughts going around in your head all day because you worry about anxiety?

12 Verses to Calm Your Worry About Anxiety

Do you worry about paying the bills this month?

Do you worry that if you have enough money this month, you won’t have enough next month?

Do you worry that you will be a success at your new job? Or that you’ll manage to complete the project but won’t meet the deadline next time around?

Do you worry that you won’t fit into your new neighborhood?

On and on it goes as we fool ourselves into thinking that we don’t worry when in reality we do!

Before we go any further in learning how to calm our worry so it doesn’t turn into anxiety, let’s find out what the difference is between the two. There IS a difference, you know.

The Difference Between Worry and Anxiety

You might be wondering what the difference is between worry and anxiety. You might have thought they were interchangeable and basically the same.

Anxiety is that uneasy feeling or apprehension. That feeling of impending danger, doom or misfortune.

I can become worried when I am in a car that tailgates a vehicle. When I respond by expressing my worries that there will be an accident with the car in front of us, that is a perceived threat because there has been no collision.

Anxiety is usually prompted by fear. It is not normal for someone standing by a fence to not flinch when a big tiller passes by. Fear is a warning system that is built into our bodies where it is natural to react to danger. When there is a real danger it is totally natural to fear.

On the other hand, worry is the thought part of anxiety. Thoughts influence your feelings and behavior.

That is why it is so important to get control of your worried thoughts by Letting Go of Worry. These Bible verses are a very important aspect of Letting Go of Worry.

12 Verses to Calm Your Worry About Anxiety

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am [a]gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:16

Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,  casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:6-8

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:5-6

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. Psalm 56:3

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall [a]direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

When fear goes beyond real danger, that is when it becomes anxiety or worry.

There are many things that we can do to ease our anxiety through:

  • Exercise
  • Doing a puzzle
  • Breathing deeply and intentionally

But . . .

There is nothing in this world that compares to committing these 12 verses to memory or putting them around your home to remind yourself about how God encourages you not to worry.

God doesn’t just command us to not fear but gives us verses that build a strong relationship with Him to help us stand firm against the adversary and not worry!

Did these 12 verses encourage you today? Do you have a verse or passage to add?

Are you living fearlessly because your hope is in God? How can you trust Him more?
