Jesus Knows Everything About You! + Video
Do you ever feel alone in what you are going through like no one understands you? Jesus knows everything about you!
As I continue to think about John 4 and the Samaritan woman is that Jesus met her right where she was. He didn’t pass her by because she had lived a loose life of sin. He knew all that she had done and yet he loved her.
The Samaritan Woman has NO Name!
In Biblical times a person’s name was an important part of their identity. Why then, are there so many women of the Bible whose names are not mentioned?
A few whose names were left out of the Bible are Mrs. Noah, Mrs. Lot, Jesus’ sisters, Peter’s wife, and of course the Samaritan’s woman.
Scholars have no idea why so many women of the Bible were known for what they did but not for who they were.
I wonder if it is so each of us can identify with them. Maybe it is so we can mentally put ourselves into their story.
Imagine for a moment that YOU are the one standing at the well with Jesus looking directly into your eyes and heart as He speaks with you.
The Samaritan woman has no name but Jesus knew everything about her.
Jesus Knows Your Name!
Compared to the entire universe, you are a mere speck, just a tiny dot. There have been millions of people who have lived through the ages, yet Jesus knows YOUR name!
Think about that for a moment!
It’s not that the Samaritan woman didn’t have a name. Jesus knows her name. We are the ones who don’t know it.
She had lived a life going from relationship to relationship. We are given the details of those failed situations but I am sure much of it was her doings.
When you have marital problems it fosters all sorts of issues. This woman had problems.
She was thirsting for all the wrong things.
She didn’t know that her real need was thirst for God.
If you are going through deep waters, struggling and overwhelmed, trust God because he says, “Fear not!”
Most Importantly God Has:
- Redeemed you!
- Called “You by name!”
- Says “You are mine!”
- Says “I will be with you!”
But now thus says the Lord,
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you. Isaiah 43:1-2
Jesus Knows Everything About You!
Maybe the Samaritan woman felt embarrassed when she realized that Jesus knew everything about her! Jesus was able to look right into her heart, seeing the motives and all the things she had ever done.
When I compare myself to one of my friends (who is nearly perfect by-the-way) I feel inadequate because I don’t measure up. Her home is perfectly decorated and with everything in its place. She dresses perfectly and acts completely poised at all times.
I wonder if the Samaritan woman felt inadequate. She certainly didn’t measure up to Jesus.
Jesus knew everything about this woman and yet He did not shun her. He sought her out and spoke to her even though it went against the social norms of the culture.
Jesus had compassion and loved her.
Can you see the comparison? Jesus knows everything about you too! His compassion does not fail!
“Great is Thy faithfulness, ” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
So remember that no matter what you have done in your life, Jesus is faithful and His compassions do not fail. Not ever.
