5 Verses to Encourage Your Weary Heart
Has your heart grown weary? Here are 5 verses to encourage you and to help you not to grow weary or bitter!
If you need encouragement because life with your husband or kids has really been difficult lately, you might identify with Job’s situation. Chances are, you’ve never had life hit you so hard as Job.
These 5 verses are key!
Even though I’ve been through some really trying times in my life, my experiences don’t compare to what Job has gone through.
If Job can praise God and never turn his back against God or blame Him, I can honor and praise God too!
Job had terrible calamities and was dealing with criticism from friends who decided he had sinned and that God was judging him.
My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul. Job 10:1
Rebekah was another mom who had grown weary. She was weary of her life and filled with discouragement about her son, Esau.
46 And Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth; if Jacob takes a wife of the daughters of Heth, like these who are the daughters of the land, what good will my life be to me?” Genesis 27:41-46
Have you been there with Job?
Are you weary to the point of growing bitter?
Maybe it is just dealing with the daily grind of being a stay-at-home mom. That is enough to make anyone bone tired!
Continually throughout the story of Job, he cried out to the Lord about his complaint.
If someone is continually complaining, we get tired of it. We might even encourage them to be more ‘positive.’
How often do we push a discouraged and weary friend aside because we don’t want to be bothered in bearing their burden?
Jesus never tires of us when we pour out our heart to Him.
5 Verses to Encourage Your Weary Heart
Job was so weary that he was leaning towards being bitter.
It was a combination of his circumstances and the response of his friends.
If you remember, Job had 10 children and they all died in one day as told in Job 1.
None of us can avoid difficulties in our life. It will help you cope when you hide relevant verses in your heart for the day of adversity.
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:2
For My Yoke is easy and My burden is light. Matthew 11:30
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength. Isaiah 40:29
Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. Psalm 62:1
You might be wondering what these verses have to do with avoiding a bitter response to weariness.
When you:
- Wait on the Lord
- Renew your strength in the Lord
- Mount up with wings like eagles
- You shall run and not be weary
- You shall walk and not faint
- Come to Jesus
- Jesus will give you rest instead of weariness
- God’s yoke is easy
- God’s burden is light
God’s yoke is not easy. It’s live destroying. I know, He has destroyed me.
Oh Susan! I don’t know what has happened in your life but God loves you beyond anything that you can imagine. Even when really really difficult things happen in our life, God intends for it to bring us closer to Him. To depend on Him. He knows what it is like for us because Jesus walked this earth and went through unimaginable difficulties. Jesus wants to wrap His arms around you and comfort you. We have a choice when life happens to us to live out our days in bitterness or worship God. Jesus really does care for you!
Thanks. I needed that this evening.
I’m so glad that you found this encouraging, Ariella!! Hope your day is awesome!!
