5 Tips for Finding Time to Read Your Bible
Finding time to read your Bible each morning can be a struggle if you’re a busy mom. That’s why these 5 tips will help you get your routine in order.
Each day, my cell phone lets me know that it’s time to get up!
There is not much difference between an exhausted mom or an empty-nester desperately trying to find time to read her Bible.
Women can easily be pulled away and get distracted from finding time to read the Bible.
Keep reading and I’ll share some tips for making time in the morning.

It is easy to be pulled in another direction and get distracted from reading God’s Word.
Babies and toddlers have a way of waking up as soon as you open your Bible.
Now that my children are grown, I can clean the house first and sit down later to read my Bible.
BUT . . . just like when my kids were growing up, if I leave reading my Bible until later, finding the time can become an issue!
Distractions can quickly pull us away.
For instance, Facebook notifications are constantly going off while I’m spending time with Jesus.
If I have my laptop closed, my phone still dings! It is a challenge to get away from the constant connection.
We all know the distractions in our lives, but what can we do about finding time to read God’s Word?
5 Tips for Finding Time to Read Your Bible
A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. Proverbs 15:13
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalm 119:11)
Have 5 things that you do first each morning to jumpstart your day. This has helped me so much in making sure I get these things done before my husband, children, friends, and the drama starts for the day!!
My morning quiet time routine helps set the tone for my day. Setting aside time for reading your Bible will help you too. If you have babies and young children, you could adapt these tips for nap time.
- Put your phone on Do NOT Disturb mode until after your Quiet Time!
- Do NOT scroll through Facebook in bed before reaching for your Bible! Just saying!
- Brush your teeth and wash your face as soon as you get up.! It surprised me how much this helped.
- Do a 15-minute workout or stretching time to help you stay awake!
- Minimize distractions! I like reading a real Bible instead of one on a device where social media can interfere by ‘calling my name!’ There is something about reading and underlining, that engages my heart with the Lord.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2 Timothy 3:16)
You NEED to tuck some verses away in your heart for the day. Verses written in a journal or on an index card scrunched up in your pocket help you through the day.
God is real and He wants to go with you.
My hope and prayer are that opening up your Bible and making time for Jesus will bring you into His presence each day. Removing distractions and doing things to make sure you are awake will help you to be alert to spend time with the God of the universe.

I find that when I start to “color” in my Bible, I wanna finish a coloring page I started days ago and not reading my Bible at all.
Hi Stella! Those two things could really distract you from reading the Bible. Not that they are ‘bad’ things to do at all. How would it work if you did your coloring page after reading your Bible? Your transparency is so sweet!
