3 Excellent Reasons for Pursuing Holiness
SO that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:10-11
How To Live Blameless for the Day of Christ
First of all, I’ll calm your worries and say that pursuing blameless living for the day of Christ does not mean that we live perfectly!
Phew!
What it means is that we hate our sin and earnestly seek to be holy as we trust in Christ.
As we have been going deeper with God in Philippians 1:1-11, we are finding GOLD!
Philippians 1:6 says ‘work in you and brought to completion.‘
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6
We are to live in this crooked and perverse generation without grumbling or complaining. Philippians 2:14-15
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. Philippians 2:14-15
This doesn’t mean sinlessness or perfection without any sin.
Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Philippians 3:12
What this all means is that when you realize and become aware of sin in your life that you confess it to God.
Pursue holiness!
3 Excellent Reasons for Pursuing Holiness through Jesus
In summary, I want to leave you with three excellent reasons for pursuing holiness. These capsulate why we would want to live blamelessly before a holy God.
We can’t live perfectly because we are prone to mess up but our whole purpose in life is to do the following three things:
- To be filled with the FRUIT of RIGHTEOUSNESS!
- To GLORIFY God!
- To PRAISE God!
