There are all kinds of reasons why your hope in life can be dashed to pieces

It is typical throughout life to experience seasons of trials, sorrow, suffering unjustly, being reviled, slandered against, critically spoken about, or insulted.

It’s just part of life whether you want it to be or not.

That is not to mention the difficulties we face with our husbands and children, or that our health might be going downhill fast.

Thing is, there is hope that is totally opposite from the way our brains and emotions are wired!

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:19-10

1. Inexpressible and Glorious Joy in Jesus

How can you have inexpressible and glorious joy with all the things happening in your life?

You really can!!

Even though your life might be hard at the moment and although you have gone through bitterness, heart-breaking experiences, excruciating moments, and over-the-top realities in your life, you can have inexpressible and glorious joy in Jesus.

That is an amazing hope!

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, I Peter 1:6

2. Life of Praise in Jesus

There are reasons to praise Jesus when life is difficult.

Praise can be the last thing you think of doing when life gets hard but if it is the first thing, it will make a monumental difference!

Praise IS . . .

  • Life-giving
  • Death-defying
  • Overpowering-circumstances
  • Praise-giving

Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. Hebrews 13:15

And . . . all because of grace through Jesus Christ alone!!

3. Absolute Miraculous Mercy of Jesus

It is all because of what Jesus did for us that we have hope at all. Otherwise, things would happen in life that would dash our dreams and expectations.

Because of the sacrificial death of Jesus, we have a hope that transcends what happens to us here on this earth through sickness, rebellious children, marriages on the rocks, financial strain (which affects marriage, by the way) and all kinds of other distresses.

  • We have a hope that always comes true!!
  • We have a living hope!
  • We have a resurrected hope!

Jesus is alive and living!

Not in some distant place where we cannot relate and where He is so far away that He does not care.

If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, he is present right with you and is working in your circumstances. Even if your circumstances do nothing but get worse, Jesus gives you eternal hope that lifts you out of your moment.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:13

4. A Hope that is Alive in Jesus

Your life on earth is connected to the God-Man’s life who rose from the dead. It was witnessed by hundreds of people and celebrated on Easter.

When you place your hope in Jesus, you have a hope that will come true because you will live because Jesus lives!

If Jesus lives, you will live!!

God established and secured His hope for you when He raised His Son, Jesus from death!!

Your hope is as ALIVE as Jesus is ALIVE!!

You may have things in life that are discouraging and would dash your hope but know that . . .

Your hope did not die when Jesus died! It was at that point in time that your hope was sealed!

Your circumstances might not turn out the way you expected but your future is sealed and secured in Jesus after this life.

He will see you through each trial and problem and you will have a glorious testimony for Jesus because of the way you handled the situation!

As trying and painful as your life may be at this moment or moments to come, no day will come close to being like what Jesus experienced for YOU the day He was crucified.

Then the same day at evening, being the first of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace unto you. John 20:19

5. When Your Flesh Dies, You Won’t

Do you have aches and pains setting in even though you are not that old? Have you ever broken a bone or had a lot of stitches?

At some point in our life, we will come to the last moment.

For some, it will be when they are young and for others like my parents, it will come when they are very old (currently 95 and 96).

If you are saved, and that final moment comes, your flesh will die and you will live in heaven like never before!

Your life will be overflowing with more fullness than ever before – when your hope is placed in Jesus.

Your Hope in Jesus will be #Truth!!

God is good and He is faithful even when:

  • People fail and hurt you!
  • Work oppresses you!
  • Finances overwhelm you!
  • You are rejected!
  • You are offended!
  • Tornadoes hit your town!
  • Hurricanes wipe out your area!
  • Huge snowstorms knock down hundreds of trees!

You have the living Jesus who stills hearts and gives hope and courage in the face of fear, doubt, and confusion.

Through it all, there are amazing reasons to put your hope in Jesus!

What has caused your earthly hope to be dashed? Do you have your hope in Jesus to see beyond the dashed expectations in your life?
