What is the Glory of Jesus in You?

I am so excited that we are beginning our ‘Grace Study’ in the Book of John.  We will discover how to experience Gladness in Jesus as the glory of Jesus dwells in YOU!

Yes, YOU!

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

What is the Glory of Jesus in You

The book of John differs from the other gospels because instead of focusing on what Jesus taught, it spotlights who Jesus is.

Backdrop to the Book of John

Although the book of John was written anonymously, it is thought to have been written by John, a disciple of Jesus.

The first verse of John starts back at creation, showing that Jesus was an integral part of the beginning of the world.

What is the Glory of Jesus in You?

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

  • The birth of Jesus is not where the book of John starts!
  • John is a book of 7 miracles!
  • You will find 7 “I AM” statements in the book of John!
  • John is not a book of parables or proverb-sayings!
  • You will find long discussions and teachings!

Jesus came to offer salvation to his people, the Jewish nation.

Somehow they missed his purpose and rejected and crucified him.

Jesus laid down his life as a sacrificial gift on the cross so that the penalty of sin could be paid for all who believe in him.

‘Gladness in Jesus’ in the book of John can be found as you experience the story of  Jesus.

As we look at the first chapter of John, you will see how you can have the glory of Jesus when he dwells in YOU!

Yes, YOU!

The Word Became Flesh

It is a mystery how the Words in the Bible became FLESH!

God spoke his Word at Creation and light, darkness, mountains, valleys, animals, and people were created.

What God said is his Word.

The Word is Jesus.

The Words on the pages of my Bible are Living and Breathing.

They are breaths of Life.

Somehow that mystery complicates itself in my brain and it is impossible for me to totally grasp its truth.

But then . . .

The book of John is all about FAITH.

Unfortunately, the Jewish nation, who were God’s chosen people, rejected Jesus as we will see as the book of John unfolds.

Jesus, the Word Dwelt Among Us

These are the topics covered in the first chapter of John:

  • Chapter 1 starts off by establishing the deity of Jesus as also being God. (John 1:1-5)
  • John the Baptist was sent from God to bear witness of that Light (John 1:6-8)
  • Jesus was that Light and he came to his own (Jews) and they rejected him. (John 1:9-11)
  • The ministry of John the Baptist (John 1:15-34)

Then we see the public ministry of Jesus as he dwelt among us while he lived on this earth. (John 1:35-51)

God sent his only Son, Jesus, so that we could get to know him but also that he would die for our sins.

The Jewish people rejected him but so many others do as well.

What will YOU do with Jesus? Have you accepted him or rejected him also?

The Glory of Jesus in YOU!

Jesus dwelt among people here on earth many years ago and we can read about it in the Bible.

The mystery of it all is that he can dwell with us even though we cannot see him in the room with us or riding in the car with us.

Yet, we can feel his presence.

We can know he lives inside of us!

That is the mystery of the glory of Jesus.

His glory and presence can live inside of us, transforming us into his likeness through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

That You May Believe

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. John 20:30-31

The book of John is written that we will believe on Jesus Christ and have eternal life.

It is written both to Non-Christians and Christians.

As Christ-followers we need the encouragement that the book of John offers. We are encouraged to ‘abide in Me’ and to live for Christ.

If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. John 15:6

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.  John 8:31

Are you seeing the glory in Jesus because he is abiding IN you?
