How To Have God’s Abundant Mercy
When your life is filled with failure, it’s wonderful to know how to have God’s abundant mercy for you to accept.
I don’t know about you, but my head can wrap around the failures of my past. When that happens, I find myself stuck and unable to move forward in God’s grace.
Instead of being unstoppable, I am spiraling downward into a pit or snare the evil one has laid for me.
I want to live my life in victory based on God’s abundant mercy.
I want to invite you to walk in His abundant mercy too.
If you have regrets over some of the choices you’ve made in your life, you’ll find encouragement from the psalmist, David. He found how to turn things around by crying out to God. This happened after his affair with Bathsheba and arranged the murder of Uriah, her military husband.
It doesn’t matter how terrible our sin is, when we cry out to God for mercy, He is immediately ready to give abundant mercy with the lovingkindness that He has for us.
Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1-2
As we start another year, let us take the opportunity to journal and reflect on our relationship with Jesus.
Journaling is a powerful way that not only deepens our connection to Jesus but also helps us cultivate an awareness of the presence of the Lord.
Learn how your past can affect whether you’re able to receive God’s abundant mercy in your life.
You’ll be given two tips to help you become unstoppable because you overcame the obstacles that are holding you back.
God’s Abundant Mercy and Steadfast Love
Take a moment to consider your life journey so far.
Through your past failures and sins, remember that God has mercy and steadfast love for you. When you repent of sin, He loves to show you His abundant mercy and unwavering love.
God’s promises can be difficult for our finite minds, but they are there for us to lean on and trust.
God’s Abundant Mercy in Your Life
Reflect on a time when you have experienced God’s mercy and steadfast love.
How has His mercy changed your life?
Write down your thoughts and include your gratitude for His lovingkindness.
In addition to reflection, journaling art and meditating on a Bible verse can be powerful tools for deepening your spiritual connection with Jesus and living out your faith daily.
Scripture Writing and Journaling Art
Each day, write out one verse and illustrate it.
As you make this a daily practice, you will notice a shift in your perspective, focusing on God’s blessings rather than the challenges you’re facing.
Meditating On God’s Word
Find your favorite place to sit where you’re alone for a few minutes.
Reflect on a Bible verse that resonates with you, such as the one mentioned earlier in this devotion.
Alternatively, you could choose your One Word for 2024 as the focus of your meditation.
Keep this word or verse where you will see it often.
Memorize it by quoting it until you ‘get it.’
Pray it back to God, praying it over your husband, child, or friend.
Embrace God’s Abundant Mercy and Forgiveness
As you continue your journaling journey, accept the love and forgiveness God offers.
Instead of holding onto past sins and failures, remind yourself that God has already blotted out your transgressions through the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for you.
Encouraging Verses for Personal Growth
What verse encourages you to face this new year with courage and a renewed faith in Jesus?
Write them down and ponder how you can apply them to your daily life as you grow in your relationship with Jesus.
Remember, dear friend, the abundant mercy and steadfast love of our Lord is always with us.
I hope you find encouragement, wisdom, and spiritual growth through your journaling journey, and that it brings you ever closer to Jesus.
Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1-2
