• Stress-Free Christmas Planning: Get Unstuck and Enjoy the Season!

If you must know, I’m the Queen of Christmas overwhelm and stress. These practical tips came about through my failures that pushed me to find solutions. I wish I could go back in time and have Christmases without all the stress and overwhelm.

If I can spare you the trouble and share from my heart what I’ve learned through the years, that will make me so happy.

Imagine the CALM that takes you from the mindset of  ‘OVERWHELM’ to knowing that Jesus is quieting your storm!

Reflecting on my personal experiences, I know all too well the overwhelming swirl of emotions and tasks that Christmas can bring.

I remember one year when, amidst the frenzy of gift shopping, meal planning, and family gatherings, I completely lost sight of the true meaning of Jesus in the season.

I stayed up till the wee hours, wrapping gifts with a stressed-out heart instead of joy.

The stress and exhaustion were so all-consuming that I barely had the energy to enjoy Christmas with my family.

This experience was a wake-up call, prompting me to reevaluate my approach to Christmas and adopt these practical strategies.

Remember, Christmas is a season of joy, love, and peace – don’t let overwhelm steal your Christmas spirit!

Escape Christmas Overwhelm with these Practical Tips

Kick the holiday stress to the curb with these simple and effective strategies:

  • Prioritize: Not every holiday activity or tradition needs to be included in your Christmas celebration. Decide what’s most important to you and your family, and focus your energy on those things. Remember, you can say no and it’s okay to do less.
  • Start Early: Don’t leave everything to the last minute. Start planning and preparing for Christmas well in advance. This includes shopping for gifts, decorating your home, and planning your holiday menu.
  • Online Shopping: Make good use of technology. Shopping online can save you time, energy, and stress. Many retailers offer gift wrapping and delivery services—take advantage of them.
  • Simplify Your Gift List: Consider simplifying your gift list. After all, Christmas is not about extravagant gifts but celebrating love and togetherness. Handmade presents, baked goods, or simply the gift of time can be more meaningful.
  • Practice Mindfulness: Take the time to be present and enjoy the festive season. Whether decorating the tree, wrapping presents, or cooking a meal, be fully present in that activity.
  • Seek Help: Don’t hesitate to ask for help. The holiday season is a time for family and friends to come together. Get everyone involved in the preparations.
  • Self-Care: Finally, don’t forget to take care of yourself. Schedule some ‘me time’ into your calendar. It could be a quiet cup of coffee in the morning, a relaxing bath at night, or a brisk walk in the afternoon.

One way to eliminate Christmas overwhelm and stress is to listen to a Christmas song list on Spotify. There’s no faster way of creating calm than focusing on Jesus to chase the overwhelm away!!

Finding Christmas Joy with Jesus

Embrace your Morning Quiet Time: Begin each day by spending quiet moments in His presence. This could mean reading a passage from the Christmas Bible Reading Plan, meditating on His words, or sitting silently, feeling His love enveloping you.

Create a Prayer Corner: Dedicate a specific spot in your home for prayer. Fill it with items that inspire spiritual reflection such as a favorite Bible or journal.

Practice Gratitude: Each day, take a moment to write down one thing you’re grateful for. Doing so will help you focus on the blessings in your life, a reminder of His love and the presence of Jesus.

Feed Your Soul with the Word: Make it a daily habit to read from the Scriptures. Whether it’s a verse, a chapter, or a book, let His words nourish your soul, bring comfort, and guide you through the season.

Surrender Your Worries: At the end of each day, surrender your worries to Him. Write them down in a journal, say them out loud, or pray about them. Trust in His plan for you, and release the burden of your worries to Jesus.

Remember, in the quiet moments when we pause from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we find true joy and peace in Jesus. Celebrating His love is the greatest gift we can give ourselves this Christmas.
