Live Fearlessly with the Armor of God
Are you ready to live fearlessly? Are you really ready like David was when he fought against Goliath?
David’s brothers had not prepared to fight against the Goliaths in their lives. They were complacent and unwilling to take on the enemy and fight.
They had not put on the armor of God and did not have the faith to take up their weapons and become the warriors in battle against the foe!
But . . . how about you?
Live fearlessly and fight against your enemy, the devil!
What we forget or don’t even realize is that the enemy the Bible talks about is surrounding us.
He is in the darkness, in the air, in the bedroom, in the kitchen, in the living room, and especially wherever your TV or computer is kept.
The remote sitting on the sofa is covered with the enemy’s helpers lurking and waiting for the opportunity to tempt you and tear you away from what is good and pure!
Are you willing to learn how to stand firm against the wiles of the devil?
I hope so!
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:10-11
Your battle is real and although you might be filled with fear, worry, and anxiety, God gives us the instructions in this short passage in Ephesians 6:10-20 to live fearlessly.
Remember how Saul tried to give young David his oversized armor to wear into battle against Goliath? That wasn’t the kind of armor that David was used to wearing.
David was used to an invisible armor that was established on his immovable faith in his God. It was a faith, based on crying out to God for his needs.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
Live Fearlessly as a Warrior-Woman
To live fearlessly as a warrior-woman, put on the whole armor of God.
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:13
God’s armor isn’t about picking up a shield or sword. It is an invisible armor made up with words that arm you spiritually.
Belt of Truth
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, Ephesians 6:14a
Do you see that?
We are told in four different ways to STAND!
I think we tend to retreat from our battleground, getting scared and turning around and retreating in the opposite direction. Like Jonah, right?
But we are told:
- Stand against the wiles of the devil!
- WithStand in the evil day!
- Having done all, Stand!
- Stand . . . having girded your waist with truth!
We are told to gird your waist with truth. When you put on a belt, your clothes don’t fall off! That is the way the belt of truth works. When you put on truth, you grow strong in the Lord and you are able to stand.
Satan is the father of lies and God is Truth!
When you stand for the truth it helps your fear to flee so that you are able to live fearlessly.
Breastplate of Righteousness
Having put on the breastplate of righteousness, Ephesians 6:14b
When we live in Christ Jesus, old things are passed away and all things become new.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.[a] The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
We are a new creature because Jesus lives in us. Jesus is sinless and totally righteous. We have no righteousness in us and any righteousness we have comes from Him.
That is why you need to put on the breastplate of righteousness. We are to protect our vital organs against vital blows. It guards your heart and secures your innermost being from the attacks of satan.
Put on Your Shoes
And having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Ephesians 6:15
- A basketball player needs basketball sneakers!
- A runner needs running shoes!
- A warrior needs combat boots!
A Christ-follower needs a special kind of shoes that prepare him as a battle-ready warrior.
You need to advance into satan’s territory to reach souls for Christ who would otherwise not hear the gospel of peace. This requires special footwear so that you can handle the snares and tricky ground without losing your footing.
Shield of Faith
Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Ephesians 6:16
When Satan attacks you with doubt and accusations it is the shield of faith that protects you and keeps you strong for battle.
Every time you resist the wiles of the devil with faith, you are strengthened in Jesus. It makes satan’s efforts ineffective!
Helmet of Salvation
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; Ephesians 6:17
Injury to the head is fatal!
When you allow the wrong thinking to enter your head through TV, reading, or watching the wrong things on the internet, you have not allowed God to protect your mind.
The head is a vital organ that needs protection. Just as you could have an accident and severely injure your head, your mind can be severely injured by what you allow into it!
Unbelievers cannot possibly have protection from the things that can enter their minds. They would not have discerning capabilities as a Believer does.
Live fearlessly because you have put on the full armor of God.
When you have all the invisible pieces of your armor on and are standing firm, start praying!
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— Ephesians 6:18
I really think the purpose of putting on the whole armor of God is to prepare you to be a warrior-woman!
All the things that fill you with fear, worry, and anxiety are the things that the whole armor of God protects you from.
Once you are warrior-ready, you are ready to fight!
You are ready to pray with perseverance once your armor is on!
