5 Things to Accomplish Before Your Kids Wake Up
It’s hard to accomplish things before your kids wake up, right? It’s easy to waste time and get distracted, then end up frustrated!
Have you read those motivational posts about getting 5 things done before 8am?
Seriously?
That person must not have been a mom!
It sounds too good to be true.
In fact, it is impossible!
One Reason Moms Struggle
But I have a way that you can accomplish 5 things before 9 (before 8 is crazy) that will help you start your day feeling great!
BUT . . . You NEED to breathe!
Do you start scrolling through Facebook while you are still laying in bed?
Social media didn’t exist a few years back but moms still got distracted from what needed to be done.
Smartphones make social media so much more accessible. That is why it is more important than ever to get control of your time as you start your day.
The struggle is real!
- Do you reach for your phone and check notifications before finding time to read God’s Word?
- Is your Facebook newsfeed the first thing you read?
- Or is it Instagram that pulls you in?
Smartphones are an amazing device that connects us with friends so we don’t feel so alone in our struggles. They have a GPS that keeps us from getting lost, let us know what the weather will be, and all sorts of other conveniences.
I know how fast time slips by when I am scrolling Facebook or Instagram on my phone.
It makes it even harder to get things done before the kids get up when you are scrolling through the newsfeed.
Your day will go a little smoother if you can get up earlier than your kids and open up your Bible.
Accomplish 5 Things Before 8am 9am
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
Your list might be different than mine. The important thing is to thoughtfully and prayerfully consider what YOU want to do at the beginning of each day.
Then make your list. Your list might look different than this but you get the idea? This isn’t a morning routine but a list of only 5 things to accomplish.
- Make your bed!
- Quiet Time!
- Workout!
- Read, DeClutter, Organize!
- Get Outside!
How to Accomplish Things in Less Time
You need time to renew your spirit. Time to regroup so you are ready for a new day.
Your day will go better just because you spent time with Jesus!
Unless you are supermom, there will be days when you can’t get up as early.
Give yourself grace; pressed down and running over.
Do the math and divide up the approximate time until the kids will wake up. You may only have 10 minutes to do each of the 5 things on your list.
This may not be the season to spend an hour studying your Bible. You may have only 5 or 10 minutes for each of these 5 things.
5 things To Do Before the Kids Get Up
Your day will likely look different than mine.
- You might want to write before your children are up.
- You might want to schedule your Facebook time while your children are still sleeping.
- You might work from home and need some uninterrupted time.
God’s calling on your life is different than mine because you are unique.
Be Intentional with Your Time
Too often social media is a black hole that causes moms to struggle in getting things done before the kids get up.
Simply choosing 5 things to accomplish before your kids wake up will help tremendously.
It will cause you to be more intentional so that you won’t struggle as much especially if you include Jesusespecially if you include Jesus!
In having a little time each day for yourself, you will be ready for what the day brings.
In what way do you struggle as a mom? What 5 things will you try to do before 8am 9am?
